HELP & ADVICE

WHICH TOOTHBRUSH?

• Always choose a toothbrush that allows you to reach all the tooth surfaces with ease and comfort.

• Choose a brush that has a medium/soft texture and a small head.
- Under 3 years use a special baby brush
- from 3 - 7 years, use a junior brush

• Modern electric brushes are also very effective

• Parents should help with tooth brushing at least once a day until the age of 7 - 8 depending on the ability of the child.

• Replace the brush every three months or sooner if the bristles become permanently bent as this makes the brush ineffective.

• All recommended Oral Hygiene products are available at this practice at discounted price.

WHICH TOOTHPASTE?

•  Use a small pea sized amount for children.
•  Check the toothpaste is sugar free (some herbal ones may not be).
•  Some of the "total" toothpastes have other beneficial effects.
• If your teeth are sensitive and you need to use tooth sensitive toothpaste, make sure it contains fluoride.

In the North of England where flouride is not added to drinking water, all adults and children should use a full strength toothpaste. (In other areas consult your dentist).

Ask any member of the dental team for advice.
